Presentation of the Virgílio Ferreira Prize to the Angolan writer Ondjaki
The official award ceremony for the Virgílio Ferreira 2023 Prize, which this year goes to the Angolan writer Ondjaki, took place on March 1 in the amphitheater of the University of Évora. This is the first time in 27 editions that the prize is awarded to an Angolan writer. According to the rector of the University of Évora, Hermínia Vilar, the prize highlights an author who writes in the Portuguese language, reinvents it, and affirms that it is the heritage of all countries where it is spoken. The award recognizes Ondjaki's work as a whole, which vacillates between poetry, fiction, children's literature and theater.
Remise du prix Virgílio Ferreira à l’écrivain angolais Ondjaki
La cérémonie officielle de remise du prix Virgílio Ferreira 2023, qui récompense cette année l’écrivain angolais Ondjaki, a eu lieu le 1er mars dans l’amphithéâtre de l’Université d’Évora. C’est la première fois en 27 éditions que le prix est attribué à un écrivain angolais. Selon la rectrice de l’Université d’Évora, Hermínia Vilar, le prix met en lumière un auteur qui écrit dans la Langue Portugaise, la réinvente, et affirme qu'elle est le patrimoine de tous les pays où elle est parlée. Le prix récompense l’ensemble de l’œuvre d’Ondjaki, qui vacille entre poésie, fiction, littérature jeunesse et théâtre.
