Luanda: Individual Exhibition of Paintings "Musas", by Joana Taya
Joana Taya is a graphic designer and painter, born in Lobito, Angola. With a Masters in Graphic Design and Arts from the University of Creative Arts, Surrey, England, she has exhibited her work in different galleries around the world, namely in Angola, Norway, China, Czech Republic and Germany. Besides her career as a painter, she has also been a university professor and an entrepreneur, having created the company Unlearn Grafics. According to Joana Taya, the exhibition "Muses" represents "daughters, mothers, friends, sisters, like me. Women in their skin. An invitation to a dialogue and psychological observation of the path and the sensitive forms of what it is to be a woman. Works from an inspiration of Greco-Roman sculptures with the adaptation and intention to express the African woman as a Visual Icon. Mutilated Muses, bruised, with scars, stains, burns, be these emotional or physical marks. Courageous, determined and resilient with their convictions. Muses of ancestral hereditary responsibility who live according to their values and beliefs. Naked and raw women who are sincere, strong and assertive. Muses of ourselves."

Joana Taya est une designeuse graphique et peintre originaire de Lobito en Angola. Diplômée d'un Master de Design Graphique et d'Arts par l'Université d'Arts Créatifs à Surrey en Angleterre, elle a exposé son travail dans différentes galeries à travers le monde. Elle a également été professeur à l'Université ainsi qu'entrepreneuse et créatrice de l'entreprise Unlearn Grafics. Son exposition "Musas" est constituée d'œuvres inspirées de sculptures gréco-romaines et a pour intention de représenter la femme africaine comme une icone visuelle. Elle nous invite a une réflexion sur ce que signifie être une femme.

Joana Taya é desenhadora gráfica e pintora, natural de Lobito, Angola. Com mestrado em Desenho Gráfico e Artes da University of Creative Arts, Surrey, Inglaterra, tem exposto o seu trabalho em diferentes galerias pelo mundo, nomeadamente em Angola, Noruega, China, República Checa e Alemanha. Para além da sua carreira como pintora, também foi professora universitária e empreendedora, tendo criado a empresa Unlearn Grafics.
Segundo Joana Taya, a Exposição «Musas» representa as “filhas, mães, amigas, irmãs, como eu. Mulheres na sua pele. Um convite a um diálogo e observação psicológica do percurso e as formas sensíveis do que é ser mulher. Obras de uma inspiração de esculturas Greco-Romanas com a adaptação e intenção de expressar a mulher africana como um Ícone Visual. Musas Mutiladas, magoadas, com cicatrizes, nódoas, queimaduras, sejam estas marcas emocionais ou físicas. Corajosas, determinadas e resilientes com as suas convicções. Musas de responsabilidade hereditária ancestral que vivem de acordo com os seus valores e crenças. Mulheres nuas e cruas, sinceras, fortes e afirmadas. Musas de nós mesmas.”
