Xiquitsi project admission hearings

The auditions will take place on January 30 and 31, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm, at the Scala Theater, in Maputo. Candidates must be between 6 and 20 years old and present their identification document. Places are open for cello, violin, double bass, clarinet, percussion, voice (soprano, contralto, tenor and bass) and lute players. The Xiquitsi Youth Orchestra began in March 2013, led by the Kulungwana Association, under the artistic direction of Kika Materula. The project allows more than 200 children and youth from public schools in Maputo to have free access to musical education. The project is inspired by the Venezuelan project of social integration through collective musical education, called "El Sistema".

Les auditions ont lieu les 30 et 31 janvier, de 10h à 13h et de 1’h à 16h30, au Théâtre Scala, à Maputo. Les candidats doivent avoir entre 6 et 20 ans et présenter son document d’identification. Les places sont ouvertes au violoncelle, au violon, à la contrebasse, à la clarinette, aux percussions, aux voix (soprano, contralto, ténor et basse) et aux luthiers. L’Orquestre Jeunesse Xiquitsi a débuté en Mars 2013, dirigé par l’Association Kulungwana, sous la direction artistique de Kika Materula. Le projet permet à plus de 200 enfants et jeunes d’écoles publiques de Maputo d’avoir un accès gratuit à l’enseignement musical. Le projet est inspiré par le projet vénézuélien d’insertion sociale à travers l’enseignement musical collectif, nommé « El Sistema ».
